The Moody Brain Health Institute (MBHI) at The University of Texas Medical Branch serves as the institutional hub for brain health research, innovation, and collaboration. Bringing together investigators, clinicians, educators, and community partners across disciplines, MBHI is accelerating discoveries that improve how we understand, prevent, diagnose, and treat disorders of the brain and nervous system.
Our mission is to foster transformative research that advances brain health across the lifespan—from neurodevelopment and healthy aging to neurodegenerative disease, neurological injury, mental health, addiction, and recovery. Through strategic investments in collaborative science, shared resources, pilot funding programs, and emerging technologies, MBHI is creating new opportunities for innovation and impact.
The Institute supports a growing ecosystem of researchers through specialized research areas, including Neurodevelopment, the Brain Tissue Repository, and Bioinformatics & Artificial Intelligence. These programs provide investigators with access to cutting-edge tools, human-relevant research models, high-quality human brain tissue resources, and advanced computational approaches that accelerate scientific discovery.
MBHI is also committed to building the future of brain health through interdisciplinary partnerships, workforce development, community engagement, and global collaboration. Through initiatives such as our Pilot Grant Programs, Brain Health Talks, DPRIT Forums, and international Brain Economy partnerships, we are connecting research, healthcare, policy, and innovation to improve outcomes for patients and communities.
Together, we are shaping the future of brain health through discovery, collaboration, and impact.
